Portfolio playbook · PE firms, holding companies, search funds, family offices

Your portfolio companies may be sitting on data AI programmes pay to license.

AI data programmes now license internal records (process documents, tickets, project histories, communications) from established companies, with published ranges of $100K–$5M per company. Across a portfolio, that's a non-dilutive line worth checking company by company, without moving any data through us.

Published programme ranges · not an offer. Each company is evaluated and priced by the programme.

Why a portfolio view helps

The work is mostly the same for every company. Doing it once, consistently, is where a group has the edge.

1

One rights review, many companies

Most of the work is checking that each company controls its records: customer contracts, employment terms and personal data. A consistent checklist across the group is faster than starting from scratch every time.

2

Pick the likely fits first

Programmes publish what they look for: typically 20–30+ staff, several years of documented process and mainly English records. Professional services, agencies, software and recruiting firms often fit well.

3

Each company applies directly

An authorised representative of each company applies, talks to the programme and agrees its own terms. The payout goes to the company. Nothing passes through TrackImpact.

Have a company ready? It can apply now.

Each company applies directly through the programme’s own application, using an authorised representative. Applying is free and commits it to nothing. For the rest of the portfolio, book 30 minutes and we’ll map which companies qualify.

These buttons are our referral links. If asked who referred you, please name TrackImpact. The programmes may pay us a referral fee; it doesn't come out of any company's payout, and no company pays us anything. Figures are the programmes’ own published ranges as of October 2026 and can change. Compare the two programmes side by side.

Checks to run before any company applies

Run the same six checks across the group. None of them rules a company out; they decide what goes into scope.

Rights

Do customer contracts or MSAs restrict using records beyond delivering the service?

Personal data

What has to be removed or anonymised (UK/EU GDPR, CCPA), and who does it?

Employment terms

Do contracts assign work product to the company?

Confidentiality

Exclude client-confidential, regulated or privileged material from scope.

Exit plans

How a licence interacts with a future sale: disclosure in diligence, and whether it transfers.

Board sign-off

Who approves at company level, and who at group level?

Not legal advice. Take advice from each company’s counsel before signing. For what licence-ready data looks like, see getting your data ready.

Questions owners ask

Does the group or the owner get a share of any fee?

No. The payout goes to the company that licenses its data. Programmes may pay TrackImpact a referral fee; we don't share it with owners, and it never comes out of a company's payout.

Can several companies apply at once?

Yes. Each company applies separately through its own authorised representative and agrees its own terms. Running the same checks across the group first makes it faster.

Does a licence affect a sale?

It should be disclosed in due diligence like any other material contract. Check whether it transfers with the business, how long it runs, and whether it restricts future use of the data. Take advice from the company's counsel.

What do the programmes actually receive?

An agreed copy of in-scope records, de-identified, for training AI agents. Companies keep ownership of their data. One programme exports and de-identifies the copy itself, with no passwords handed over.

Our companies are outside the US. Does that matter?

Demand is strongest in the US, then the UK and Canada. One programme considers companies in many countries; the other is mainly US. Each company is reviewed case by case.

How long does it take?

Typically a short assessment or estimate, a review of the data, a discovery call or letter of intent, then agreement and onboarding. One programme quotes roughly three months from first conversation to payment.

Do you see any of our data?

No. We never receive, store or process any company's data. Everything after the introduction happens directly between the company and the programme.
